Ophelia will make landfall based on current models:
Monday, October 16, 2017 at 12PM EST near Cork, Ireland. And the UK.
A watch should be sent out very soon, chances are, anyone in the UK are not safe. I'm expecting a category 1-4 most likely a 3-5. Stay updated #PrepareUK
Hope you mean "and" UK. Co.Cork is in the Republic of Ireland, Not UK.! Will be keeping an eye on this storm. Great site, keep up the good work
@Corofin12345 he's going to pass by Portugal?
Irish meteorologists have very good knowledge and are keeping a close eye on the evolution of "Ophelia".
Yesterday (Oct,12) they issued a weather advisory
Don't worry! Υou cannot catch old birds with chaff !
mainland Portugal? No.
Ophelia will pass between Azores and Madeira.
Due to southern winds Portugal will "feel" relatively high (for October) temperatures (max 33C for the weekend).
weather briefing by a UK's MetOffice meteorologist
Link to Landfall by Windy. Category 1, or maybe "Post-Tropical" Ophelia Will make landfall with gusts going up to 105 mph, 174 km/h, 91 knots, 12 bft, 47.4 m/s.
Thanks @meteo-GR for the advisory link.
New track makes landfall between Galway and Westport, Ireland. UK not to be harmed, the storm moves northeast while it loses strength by the size of Ireland.
it loses strength by the size of Ireland.... and by the cooler waters of North Atlantic
Our forecasting systems are good but I tend to follow a Facebook page for more accurate info, "Irish Weather Online".These guys are right nerds when it comes to weather and they are generally right too. Worth a like if interested. Will be keeping a close eye on this storm or as we say here in Ireland "Good drying weather for the clothes". :P
As the storm aproaches Ireland ...
the wind at Cork, Ireland: 41kts gusts 63 kts !!!
It has claimed its first victim in Co. Waterford. So please listen to what the authorities are saying and stay indoors.
